  • My StorEdge does not sit flush with my macbook

The StorEdge product will fit flush on Mac/Macbooks (excluding Mac Mini) prior to 2013. In 2013 models that Apple introduced,  a new card reader was implemented into their Macbooks, and as such the StorEdge will stick out more than previous MacBooks and will not sit flush.

  • StorEdge does not fit flush with my Macbook Retina.

On MacBook Retina 13”, a new card reader was implemented and as such, the StorEdge does not fit flush.

  • StorEdge will not work with my Mac Mini.

The card reader on the Mac Mini is an older type and because of this the StorEdge does not reach the pins. We suggest using the StorEdge on Macbook Pro, Macbook Air and MacBook Retina notebooks.

  • Will StorEdge fit in a digital camera card reader?

The StorEdge was specifically designed for Apple Macbook card readers, and as such the card is a small form factor which will not reach the pins on a normal PC card reader, and will not work with a digital camera.

  • Is there a class associated with the StorEdge?

The PNY StorEdge is designed to be a Semi-Permanent Storage for your Mac that fits flush against your Macbook, as such there is no class associated with the StorEdge as there would be with a SD/SDHC/SDXC card.

  • Why is the available capacity smaller than the announced density?

By industry standards, 1GB equals 1,073,741,824.  If you divide the announced density by the computer’s 1GB definition, you will get the available space.

    For example: 64,000,000,000 (64GB) divided by 1,073,741,842 = 59.6GB of available space.
