Elemental Accelerator™ is a high-speed, high-quality video processing solution designed to add power and performance to the Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS4 workflow with select NVIDIA® Quadro® professional graphics boards. Elemental Accelerator harnesses the power of the Quadro GPU and NVIDIA® CUDA™ technology to perform high-speed video encoding and deliver dramatic time savings over conventional CPU-only encoding solutions.
Elemental Accelerator performs GPU-accelerated conversion of commonly distributed digital video formats to H.264/AVC baseline, main, or high profile output ready for upload to the web or burning to Blu-ray disc. By executing demanding processing tasks on the Quadro GPU, Elemental Accelerator not only speeds video transcoding, it frees CPU resources to perform other tasks, resulting in a faster, more efficient video editing and production environment. Elemental Accelerator 2.0 for Windows can deliver as much as a 11x performance improvement compared to the standard CPU encoder.

Here is an example of a project with 11X faster encoding speed
As you can see from the chart below the CUDA-enabled Elemental Accelerator™ plug-in coupled with the Quadro FX 3800 is up to 11X faster than the standard media encoder.
Project and Settings
We created an AVCHD 1920x1080 @ 23.976 fps Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS4 project running 28 seconds in length. Using a 2.5 GHz Quad Core CPU system, we compared the performance of the standard H.264 media encoder included with Premiere Pro CS4 with the Elemental Accelerator video encoding plug-in. Using the Quadro FX 3800, we export this project as a 1280x720 @23.976 H.264 file. This file is ready to be converted to flash format for web upload.
Performance will vary based upon which GPU and CPU are used. The chart below highlights results for the same test applied to additional GPU/CPU combinations.
STANDARD ENCODER SETTING
In the standard media encoder these settings can be found in the pre-sets using

ELEMENTAL ACCELERATOR
For the Elemental Accelerator™ Plug-in these settings are used as presets

These settings are identical. Both use VBR 1 pass, target 25,000 Kbps, High Profile, and level 4.1.
Elemental Accelerator Trial Version
Elemental accelerator takes advantage of Elemental’s core video platform and NVIDIA Quadro GPUs to dramatically speed up the process of converting commonly distributed digital audio and video formats to H.264 baseline, main, r high profiles or to MPEG-2 main profile. This includes accelerated decoding, processing and encoding of video or Premiere Pro projects into high quality H.264 or MPEG-2 files ready for upload to the web or for burning to DVD or Blu-ray disc.
- The trial version of Elemental Accelerator is based on the v2.1 Windows release.
- The Trial version of Elemental Accelerator will run of supported NVIDIA Quadro FX GPUs only
- The trial version will expire after 30 exports or after 30 days, whichever occurs first.
- The absolute expiration date for the trial version is April 20, 2010
- The trial version contains a watermark. The watermark does not scale.
- The trial version is localized in to seven languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean
- Once the trial version expires it cannot be updated to a fully function version of Elemental Accelerator, customers should purchase PNY PN 730-57264-2200-000
